Blog entry 1- SAMR

For this blog post, I chose the article by Edutopia titled " A Powerful Model for Understanding Good Tech Integration" by  Youki Terada. In this article, I found it broke SAMR down into some really great points and was simple to understand. One quote from this article that stuck out to me, especially as a student teacher and future educator, is "It’s tempting to think of SAMR as a mountain to be summited. But good technology integration isn’t about living at the top of the SAMR model; it’s about being aware of the range of options and picking the right strategy—or strategies—for the lesson at hand."

This stuck out to me because, as a future educator, I feel like I have to go above and beyond and start at the most extreme point when thinking of new lessons or new technology to use in the classroom. When making it new and exciting, this quote says you don't have to live at the top, and the most extreme point. It is about taking steps and picking what level is good for your lesson.

I have added a wordmap of the different words that stuck out in the article to myself.

  1. Michaela i liked how you focused on the idea that SAMR isn't about always reaching the top level. As student teachers, it's easy to feel pressure to make every lesson as innovative as possible, so that quote is a great reminder that effective tech use is about choosing what best supports the lesson goals. I also liked your use of a word map it shows thoughtful reflection and helped highlight what stood out to you from the article, great job!
